Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and verifying surgical instrument functionality
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and maintaining sterile environments
- Manage surgical inventory, including restocking supplies and tracking equipment usage
- Adhere to strict aseptic protocols and OSHA safety standards in all surgical interventions
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize surgical workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care surgical environments
- Proficiency in major surgical specialties (orthopedic, neuro, general, etc.)
- BLS certification with current CPR credentials
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterilization techniques and instrument processing
- Ability to maintain composure during high-pressure emergency procedures
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional hand-eye coordination
