Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical equipment for complex procedures including orthopedic, general, and neurosurgeries
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols per OSHA and AORN standards
- Manage surgical instrument inventory, processing, and maintenance in accordance with hospital policies
- Collaborate with anesthesia, nursing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless surgical workflow
- Document perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for patient safety
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or graduate of accredited surgical technology program
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in acute care hospital operating rooms
- BLS/CPR certification required; ACLS preferred
- Proficiency in sterile processing, instrument identification, and surgical case setup
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
