Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Monitor patients' vital signs and document surgical events accurately
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and ensure compliance with sterilization protocols
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless surgical workflow
- Handle biohazard materials and medical waste according to OSHA standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for surgical processes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent scrub experience in general surgery
- BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic technique
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong communication skills and ability to function in high-pressure environments
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call
- Pass background check and drug screening
