As a Surgical Tech, you will play a crucial role in the operating room, ensuring that surgical procedures run smoothly and safely. You will collaborate closely with surgeons and nurses to provide the highest standard of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Preparation: Set up operating rooms with all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
- Assistance: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures with precision and speed.
- Sterile Field: Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical process, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
- Inventory Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure zero loss.
- Patient Care: Position patients appropriately and help transport them to and from the operating room.
- Documentation: Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in the medical record.
- Sanitization: Clean and sterilize surgical equipment and instruments after use following hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterilization techniques, and operating room procedures.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients or equipment, and handle stressful situations calmly.
