Responsibilities
- Prepare Operating Rooms: Ensure surgical suites are properly equipped, sanitized, and organized for each procedure.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons during operations, anticipating their needs with precision.
- Maintain Sterile Field: Strictly adhere to sterile technique protocols to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Patient Care: Escort patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their comfort and safety before and after anesthesia.
- Supply Management: Monitor and restock surgical instrument trays and sterile supplies throughout the shift.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient data, surgical procedures, and counts of instruments, sponges, and needles.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting patients and equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain strict attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
