Responsibilities
- Assist the Surgical Team: Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for procedures.
- Surgical Assistance: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and registered nurses during surgery, anticipating their needs based on the surgical procedure.
- Patient Safety: Strictly adhere to aseptic technique and sterilization protocols to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Specimen Handling: Accurately label and transport surgical specimens to the pathology lab for analysis.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of supplies used and surgical procedures performed.
- Room Turnover: Efficiently clean, disinfect, and restock operating rooms between surgeries to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to follow complex instructions and maintain strict sterile field protocols.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within a diverse medical team.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights during procedures.
