Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Provide direct assistance to surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Prepare OR: Set up operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and sterile drapes are correctly positioned.
- Maintain Sterile Field: Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Count Instruments: Accurately count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Patient Care: Help position patients safely and assist in draping the sterile field.
- Sterilization: Properly sterilize and reprocess surgical instruments using approved autoclave and manual techniques.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient care activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology preferred).
- Experience: No prior experience required. We are looking for candidates with a strong willingness to learn and a passion for patient care.
- Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST) or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is a plus but not mandatory.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professionalism: Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
