Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and maintaining sterile fields
- Monitor inventory levels and order surgical supplies while adhering to budget constraints
- Follow strict sterilization protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and JCAHO standards
- Document procedural information accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with nursing and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless surgical workflows
- Train and mentor junior surgical tech staff on best practices
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room experience
- Expertise in orthopedic, neurosurgical, or general surgery procedures
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional communication skills
- COVID-19 vaccination series completion required
