Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and arranging instruments/supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical cases and enforce aseptic techniques
- Handle and process surgical specimens according to hospital protocols
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for efficient patient turnover
- Inventory and restock surgical supplies while minimizing waste
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety committees
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in general surgery preferred
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Flexibility to cover various surgical specialties
