Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and verifying sterility protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce infection control standards throughout surgeries
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure completeness
- Operate specialized surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Document procedural details in electronic health records with precision and timeliness
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery or subspecialty
- Current BLS certification and state licensure (if applicable)
- Expertise in sterile processing and instrument management protocols
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends and on-call duties
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (EPIC preferred)
