Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations with instrument passing and wound exposure
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Manage surgical inventory and equipment sterilization protocols
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification and current AZ state license
- Expertise in sterile processing and instrument handling
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during high-pressure procedures
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Flexibility to cover varied surgical specialties and on-call rotations
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance standards
