Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and suturing tissues
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Count and account for all instruments, sponges, and needles before and after operations
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments according to established protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document surgical cases accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical tech experience in general surgery
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization methods
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
