Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile fields
- Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure smooth workflow in the operating room
- Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them and applying sterile drapes
- Count and account for all instruments, sponges, and needles before and after procedures
- Scrub in and sterilize equipment according to strict infection control protocols
- Assist in transferring patients to and from surgical suites
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a hospital operating room setting
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
