Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Provide comprehensive assistance to the surgical team during procedures, anticipating needs and ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Patient Care: Monitor and prepare patients for surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort before and after procedures.
- Instrumentation: Properly set up, sterilize, and manage surgical instruments and equipment to maintain strict aseptic technique.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain all required surgical records, counts, and documentation in a timely manner.
- OR Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe operating room environment at all times.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) or certification eligible (e.g., passing the CAAHEP or ABHES exam).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on detail and adherence to sterile field protocols.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
