Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical equipment in compliance with infection control protocols
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation per Joint Commission standards
- Transport patients, specimens, and equipment safely within sterile and non-sterile areas
- Manage sterile processing, sterilization, and inventory of surgical instruments
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and team training
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room experience in general surgery
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends and on-call duties
