Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and other sterile supplies.
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging equipment and checking equipment functionality.
- Maintain sterile environments by preparing, sterilizing, and disassembling equipment.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accurate records.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room with safety and care.
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to strict sterile field protocols.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by the NBSTSA.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
- State licensure to practice in Massachusetts (if required).
