Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and sterile equipment for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure adherence to infection control protocols
- Count and account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before/after procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology graduate or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general surgery specialties
- BLS/CPR certification and current California surgical tech license
- Proven ability to anticipate surgeon needs in high-pressure situations
- Familiarity with electronic documentation systems (EPIC preferred)
- Exceptional sterile technique and equipment troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including on-call weekends
