Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and setting up sterile fields
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic protocols throughout surgical interventions
- Manage surgical inventory and restock supplies between cases
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams
- Handle biohazardous waste according to OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in a hospital setting
- Expert knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Strong familiarity with surgical instruments and equipment
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergency procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- New York State Surgical Technology license
