Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments for procedures, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sponges accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterile field protocols throughout surgical procedures.
- Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgeries.
- Handle and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using approved autoclave protocols.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room with a focus on patient safety and comfort.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile technique, and aseptic procedures.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
