Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments and equipment for surgical procedures according to established protocols.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures, and providing other assistance as needed.
- Vital Monitoring: Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the circulating nurse or surgeon immediately.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure a sterile field.
- Inventory Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain patient records and surgical logs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
