Job Summary:
The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the operating room, ensuring that surgical procedures are performed safely and efficiently. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to maintain a sterile environment and assist in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons with patient positioning, draping, and wound care preparation.
- Maintain a sterile field by adhering to strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols.
- Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures with speed and accuracy.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure zero loss.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs during surgical procedures.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and transport patient care equipment.
- Ensure the operating room is clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSFA) required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, anatomy, and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment/patients as necessary.
