Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, and counting sponges and needles to ensure the correct count is maintained.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure a safe surgical environment.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts and records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite with the utmost care.
- Monitor the patient's condition and report any changes to the surgical team immediately.
- Assist with post-operative care and cleaning of the operating room after procedures.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile techniques, and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
