Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies required for surgical procedures.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sponges while maintaining a sterile field.
- Counting: Accurately count and document all sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Recovery: Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Equipment: Monitor and adjust equipment during surgery as needed.
- Sanitation: Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment after use.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient information.
Qualifications
- Certification: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program and certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and sterilization techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus in high-stress environments and maintain strict attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
