Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile equipment and verifying instrument functionality
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis following strict protocols
- Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies to ensure seamless surgical workflows
- Implement infection control measures and sterilization processes per OSHA standards
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during fast-paced procedures
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ pounds
