Responsibilities
- Preoperative Preparation: Set up operating rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications before procedures.
- Assist Surgeons: Assist the surgical team during procedures, passing instruments and sutures as needed.
- Instrument Care: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure safety and prevent retention.
- Patient Safety: Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff or surgeon immediately.
- Postoperative Care: Transport patients to recovery areas and assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of surgical procedures and equipment used.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to instrument counts and sterile techniques.
