Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments and equipment per sterile processing protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and monitor patient vital signs throughout operations
- Apply sterile dressings and bandages post-procedure under physician direction
- Account for all surgical items using sponge, needle, and instrument counts
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless surgical workflow
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and AORN standards for patient safety
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year recent OR experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
- TB test and health clearance within last 6 months
