Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring everything is sterile and ready for surgery.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sutures, anticipating their needs.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the nurse anesthetist or surgeon.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including skin antisepsis and surgical site marking.
- Transport patients to and from the operating suite using proper body mechanics and safety protocols.
- Document surgical procedures, supplies used, and patient information accurately.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (or equivalent military training).
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) is highly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
