Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical equipment according to procedure specifications
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and sterile equipment
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols throughout surgical cases
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to prevent retention
- Transport patients and specimens safely while adhering to infection control standards
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, restocking as needed
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia providers to optimize surgical workflow
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology program graduate or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in general surgery
- Proficiency in sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during fast-paced procedures
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment maintenance
- BLS/CPR certification with current provider status
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure
