Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile equipment, instruments, and supplies according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and handling surgical specimens
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure aseptic technique throughout all surgical interventions
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, including restocking and quality assurance
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care transitions
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, AORN, and Joint Commission standards
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in general surgery and specialty procedures
- Current BLS/CPR certification with ability to obtain ACLS within 6 months
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional hand-eye coordination
- Experience with electronic documentation systems (EPIC preferred)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function in high-pressure environments
