Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures including equipment setup and sterile field maintenance
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments, sponges, and needles
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis following strict protocols
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including cameras, monitors, and robotic systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, AORN, and Joint Commission standards
- Participate in sterile processing and inventory management of surgical supplies
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent accredited program
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Level I trauma center OR
- Advanced certification in specialty (e.g., CSFA, CORT)
- Expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs in high-pressure scenarios
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and infection control
- BLS/CPR certification and willingness to obtain ACLS
