Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical equipment according to procedure protocols
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Manage instrument sterilization, processing, and inventory control systems
- Document surgical counts and equipment usage per regulatory standards
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience in general surgery specialties
- Current BLS certification with ability to maintain
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/SPD)
- Exceptional attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to stand for extended periods in high-pressure environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to cover varied surgical schedules including on-call duties
