Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all equipment provided is functioning correctly.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to prevent retained foreign bodies during surgery.
- Handle patient positioning and draping safely to optimize surgical access.
- Manage and inventory surgical supplies to prevent shortages and reduce waste.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately within electronic health records (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and aseptic technique.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Valid California RN or Allied Health professional license.
