Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments according to procedure requirements
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures with instrument passing and equipment management
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical cases
- Account for and manage surgical supplies, equipment, and implants before, during, and after procedures
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and assist with wound closure
- Collaborate with surgical team to ensure efficient patient turnover and case flow
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology program graduate or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of hospital OR experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical procedures
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Experience with electronic health records and surgical tracking systems
