Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments according to specialty protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterilization standards (AORN guidelines)
- Handle surgical specimens for proper lab processing and documentation
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment within OR suites
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless case flow
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process optimization
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) required
- Current BLS/CPR certification from AHA
- Minimum 1 year recent OR experience in Level I trauma center
- Expertise in multiple surgical specialties (ortho, cardio, neuro)
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work rotating weekends and on-call shifts
