Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all have been tested and are functioning correctly.
- Assist in sterile techniques, including creating and maintaining a sterile field for the surgical team.
- Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain correct counts before and after surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and alert the surgical team immediately of any changes.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the operative site.
- Handle specimens for pathology and transport patients to recovery areas.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- 1-3 years of previous surgical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
