Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensuring that surgical procedures are well set up.
- Assist in sterile technique procedures, including draping, preparing skin, and passing instruments to surgeons during operations.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain a sterile environment and prevent retained items.
- Monitor and maintain sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Handle specimens accurately and transport them to the laboratory.
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team regarding patient needs and equipment status.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
