Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, and supplies according to surgical protocols.
- Assistance: Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and materials efficiently and accurately.
- Sterilization: Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterilization procedures for all surgical instruments and equipment.
- Counts: Perform and document accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure patient safety.
- Environment: Monitor the operating room environment to ensure safety and maintain a sterile field.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, nurses, and physicians to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of surgical procedures, anatomy, and aseptic technique.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and ability to perform counts accurately.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move patients or equipment as necessary.
- License: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
