Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical equipment for diverse procedures including orthopedic, neuro, and general surgery
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce strict aseptic techniques
- Count and document surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before and after procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced surgical equipment including endoscopic and robotic systems
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for surgical services
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in acute care surgical setting
- Current BLS certification with ability to obtain ACLS within 6 months
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization protocols
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication skills and ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations
- Proficiency in handling orthopedic, cardiovascular, and general surgical instrumentation
