Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields using institution-provided advanced equipment
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies per protocol
- Operate and troubleshoot specialized surgical machinery including endoscopy and robotics
- Perform comprehensive instrument sterilization and equipment maintenance per AORN standards
- Document perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless case flow
- Maintain inventory of institution-provided disposable and reusable supplies
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in general surgery or subspecialty OR
- Proficiency with institution-provided surgical equipment (Da Vinci, Olympus, Karl Storz)
- BLS/CPR certification and ongoing continuing education
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards and AORN guidelines
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced surgical environments with high case volumes
- Strong communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
