Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile surgical fields and equipment in compliance with OSHA and AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation throughout procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced surgical equipment (endoscopic, robotic, etc.)
- Ensure optimal room turnover between surgical cases
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in general/general surgery
- BLS certification and current Michigan state license
- Proven ability to maintain sterile fields in high-pressure situations
- Experience with electronic documentation systems (EPIC preferred)
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
