Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of biohazardous materials per OSHA standards
- Monitor inventory and restock operating rooms between procedures
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and facility safety protocols
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent scrub experience in general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards and aseptic techniques
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure surgical environments
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to cover varied surgical schedules including weekends
