Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Anticipate surgeon's needs and pass instruments and sterile supplies during surgical procedures.
- OR Preparation: Prepare operating rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure a sterile environment prior to surgery.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accurate records and prevent loss.
- Patient Care: Provide comfort and support to patients pre-operatively and assist in positioning and draping them.
- Documentation: Accurately record medical data, supplies used, and patient condition during procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor and troubleshoot surgical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting preferred.
- Licensure: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical procedures, and sterilization processes.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
