Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and setting up sterile fields
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile environments
- Count surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operations
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while monitoring vital signs
- Manage sterilization processes using autoclaves and sterile processing equipment
- Document procedural activities and maintain accurate patient records
- Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure efficient surgical workflow
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- No prior surgical experience necessary – we provide paid training!
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must pass background check and drug screening
