Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout operations
- Count and track surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and assist with wound closure
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain inventory of surgical supplies
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Graduate of accredited surgical technology program
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience preferred
- BLS/CPR certification (current)
- Knowledge of sterile processing and instrumentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
