Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis and proper disposal of biohazardous materials
- Monitor inventory levels and restock surgical supplies according to protocol
- Document procedural details in electronic health records systems
- Transport patients to and from surgical areas with proper safety protocols
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and AORN standards for surgical environments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ pounds
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
