Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
- Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery to ensure nothing is left in the patient.
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using standard sterilization techniques.
- Document patient care actions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room as needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Previous experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical asepsis and sterilization techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
