Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring a safe environment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs to streamline the workflow.
  • Monitor and handle patient specimens accurately for laboratory analysis.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure zero retention, prioritizing patient safety.
  • Position patients safely on the operating table and apply drapes and sterile fields to create the correct operative field.
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and hospital infection control policies.

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
