Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Prepare operating rooms and ensure all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for surgical procedures.
- Patient Care: Transport patients to the operating room, position them safely, and monitor their vital signs throughout the surgery.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure zero loss.
- Field Management: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons with precision and maintain a sterile field at all times.
- Documentation: Accurately label and organize specimens and maintain accurate medical records of procedures performed.
- Emergency Response: Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Sanitation: Adhere to strict hospital protocols for cleaning and sterilizing operating rooms and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift patients (up to 50lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision and adherence to safety and sterile techniques.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
