Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments/supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile fields
- Monitor inventory levels and restock surgical supplies for optimal OR efficiency
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols per hospital standards
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure patient safety
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous education
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year recent scrub experience in general surgery
- Current BLS certification from AHA
- Knowledge of sterile processing and OSHA compliance standards
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure emergency situations
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina for prolonged standing
- Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays
