Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by arranging sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies efficiently.
- Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and promptly report any changes to the charge nurse.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols to prevent infections.
- Document patient care activities and assist with patient transport to recovery areas.
- Collaborate effectively with the nursing and anesthesia teams to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or credentials (CNA, LPN).
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a hospital or surgical setting is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong ability to stand for long periods and lift medical equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for travel to satellite locations.
